So this week's TGIF Challenge is awesome!! I've been working on a lot of Christmas stuff lately, so I was thrilled when I saw this floral theme at TGIF Challenges!! I love the colors and I think what I came up with is kind of fun! The inspiration for this challenge to me looked like Watermelon Wonder, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive with that floral theme. So that is exactly what I put together!!
Isn't it beautiful? I will admit-I actually got my Stamp-a-ma-jig out! Is that a collective gasp I hear? You all know me so well--I am usually a hater of all things ma-jig but that is only because I am a super lazy stamper. Well, I loved how the stamps in this set create a corner motif, but I have not really wored with the set much yet, so out came my ma jig! The nice part of this is that I love how I was able to perfectly align things as I wanted them.
I did some watercoloring with my ink pads and aquapainter. I used my archival black pad and watercolor paper and the color scheme I mentioned before. It looked great as I tried to get a bit of shading going. I love love love watercoloring and the new Black Archival pad makes me pretty happy!! It is super black (believe it or not, that can be hard to come by). It doesn't dry so darn fast like StazOn. It does stain your stamps (especially photopolymer) so if you are anal about your stamps looking unused, this pad wil take your OCD to a new level, but if you like the "lived-in" look of stamps, you'll be celebrating! :)
I used watercolor paper--that is always the key to watercoloring success!! The colors are just squeezing the pad to the lid and picking up the color from that lid with my aquapainter. Easy-peasy!
To put the card together, I embossed the elegant dots embossing folder on my Watermelon card and added some of the lace trim with an accent of gold thread behind.
