Creation Station Blog Hop: Thankful

Creation station Header

Welcome to the Creation Station Blog Hop!!  We are an amazingly talented group (If I do say so, myself) of Stampin Up Demonstrators from all around the globe!  I am so excited to have so many of my great friends participating in our new Creation Station Design Team!  You are in for a treat!

You've just joined us from the AMAZING Julie's blog!  Thanks so much for stopping by The Creativity Cave!  I'm so glad you are here and I hope you enjoy my projects!

This month's theme is Thankful and while it is the month that brings us Thanksgiving here in the US, I love the idea of this theme no matter the time of year.  I think we all have so much to be thankful for in life, and I love the idea of sharing that with the people you are especially thankful for!  I think anyone who would find this card in their mailbox would feel pretty wonderful, indeed!

I was trying to come up with a great project using the set, Ligthearted Leaves.  I was working on something with a picture frame and I just didn't like how it was going, so I decided to switch gears to watercoloring, and I just love what I came up with!

This card is just so rich in color and texture–The watercolor paper base makes for an amazing starting point whenever you use watercoloring techniques.  I started by embossing the leaf with gold embossing powder.  I then used my aquapainters to kind of do a "wash" of Blackberry Bliss over the entire leaf.  I then filled in several areas with additional color, to add some interest.

Next I used my marker to do the "spritz" technique.  Not sure what that is?  Check out my Video Tutorial on how to do spritzing with the cap of your marker.

Then I decided I wanted to hilight the Gold in my card a bit more.  I cut the THANKFUL from the Little Letters Thinlits in Gold Glimmer Paper and adhered them to the card.

And finally, I added some Gold Metallic Thread around my card base (of Rich Razzleberry).  I just love how beautifully it turned out!

Next, I wanted something a bit more simplified:

I pulled out my greens:  Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, and Mossy Meadow.  I again, watercolored, but this time I just stamped a leaf in each color and then used the ink from the stamped image to smear the watercolor around.  Very simple, but pretty!

I love the simplicity of this card.  I think it would make a great masculine card, as well! Just a simple mat for the watercolor paper panel of Mossy Meadow and a little stamping in the background. That's it!

Next up:  The lovely, Sara's blog!  Make sure to check out all the amazging projects in our Creation Station "Thankful Blog Hop"! Thanks so much for stopping by!  If you would like to see the supplies I used scroll down to the bottom!
