Friday Quickies: Cards and Albums with Project Life!

Now if you have never played with Project Life before, you are missing out!  It is an awesome tool–whether you are looking to memory keep or make some super simple and quick cards!  I love the options that our Project Life Kits offer! Now, I need to start with one little disclaimer, as I am a huge fan of scarcasm and swear words, there may be a FEW inappropriate words in my album that show up.  They are also nicely balanced with prayers and scripture.  I like to think that the Tshirt that says, "I love Jesus but I cuss a little" is a good description of me! 😉  I promise it is nothing big, but I NEVER want to offend anyone. I hope this has not tarnished your view of my perfection in stamping and in life! 😉 Now, once you stop laughing, please watch my awesome video! It covers a lot of fantastic topics and tips for both making albums as well as card making–made super easy!!

So using the following items I created over 30 cards, AND an album: When you buy any of the Project Life Card Kits with your order over $50, I'll send you a HUGE PDF with card ideas for cardmaking!  More details at the bottom of the post.

  • Happiness Is Project Life Card Kit
  • Happiness Is Project Life Accessory Pack
  • Package of Whisper White, Basic Gray and Assorted 14-16 In Color Cardstock
  • Roll of Cotton Ribbon
  • Project Life Album
  • 2 packages of 6×8 Project Life Page Protectors
  • Adhesive (I used LOTS of dimensionals)
  • Punches

Watch the video on how you can create 40+ greeting cards in no time--super easy to create using these products and a few punches!

I cut a bunch of half sheets of Whisper White cardstock,  I cut a couple sheets of Basic Gray to  3 1/4 x 4 1/4" and a couple of sheets to 3 1/8 x 4 1/8 and the same with a sheet each of Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, and Tangelo Twist.

This is probably my FAVORITE card!!  I love how cute it turned out!  I added some ribbon to jazz things up!  The Fun Flower punch is on the Retiring List so MAKE SURE YOU GET IT!!  It is my fav and there is nothing like it in the new catalog!  Speaking of the new catalog, I am excited that if you are a member of The Creativity Cave VIP Rewards program, you will be automatically getting one as soon as they are available (mid-late May) with a Start Date of June 1!!  Want to become a VIP, scroll to the bottom for more info!

Obviously, Albums are the intended creations for Project Life Kits.  I had decided I wanted to do an "everyday life" type album.  It sort of doubles as a journal, something I've always wanted to keep but never had much success with.  I discovered that when I partnered with my favorite accessory, my iPhone, I had a fabulous partner in journaling (especially when I didn't keep up with my album).  Add in my FB wall, and I have a great record of what I am up to!  Between those, I can fill in the blanks of what I'd like to journal in my album.

My album cover is just my favorite 4×6 card from my PL kit, and I used the cork diecut letters to personalize it.

My opening page.  It is so important to me, and a part of my outlook.  I was working with one of my Stampin Up Business Coaches and she suggested I needed to change my outlook on life.  I agreed, and I had a new mantra complete with a reminder sign in my office (even better that I spelled it wrong, so every time I look at it, it makes me giggle!) I was going to fix it but then I decided it was one of those things I just have to keep! 😉

Using my phone, I determined what photos I wanted to print, and left post-it's to mark their place.  I then added them to a folder in my Photos on my iPhone so when I go to print them, I can easily find them all at once.  This way I can decide which photos to print and not waste a ton of printed pictures. In the past I just print everything, but then there are often a bunch of pictures I never use.  This way I can decide before-hand. It is kind of the opposite of how I have done things on the other albums I've done.

Speaking of, here are some other posts I've done on Project LIfe:

The best part about partnering with your phone is that it has a WAY better memory than you do–and it keeps meticulous records!  If only I was as good as this!! I used clues from my photos to put together the things I wanted to journal from the dates before I started.  I love the idea of using your phone for this.  It also holds all the silly photos I save from FB, Instagram and Pinterest. I can also use FB, Instagram and other Social Media to add more details if needed!

I love that because this is just an everyday life "journal" album, I can write about the "real" things going on in my life.  I literally had to wait for a huge zit on my face to go away before I could take a head-shot for my FB page (I need to update it on my blog, too!).  I wanted to record a video (you can see it on my Customer Rewards page) as well and let's just say I wanted to put my best face forward! 😉 The other part of this is that I had this stupid zit for forever, and I have had really good skin since having my youngest.  Like some sort of hormonal bonanza that kept me looking good.  Interesting things you can record in your everyday life album! 😉 You are welcome!!

And lastly, I had to write about how fun it can be when you see a sticker in a kit you couldn't possibly use, and then you go to a Robotics competition and it is the most perfect sticker you ever had….TALK NERDY TO ME!  How awesome is that?

I am caught up on what I want to write through today for this year!  It only took me about 1 1/2 hours to put this album together.  I obviously need to print photos and add them.  I think I will once I hit June (besides I am going on an EPIC vaca in May!)  Then I'll do another big round later.
