WWYS Challenge: Totally Trees

Welcome to The Creativity Cave! This week at WWYS, We are working with one of my favorites: Totally Trees!  I think one of the reasons I love this set so much is that it is so versatile--every season in one fun set--and the other cool part is it makes fantastic masculine cards, too! I CASED this from a gift box I saw online somewhere!  I am also kicking myself because I can't find the original box anymore...but I LOVE it!

 

Gather your supplies:

• 1/2 sheet black cardstock
• layering circle framelits or 1 3/4", 2" and 2 1/2" circle punches
• woodland embossing folder
• kraft cardstock
• copper foil paper
• 4 x 5 1/4" very vanilla cardstock plus scrap for circle
• versamark
• copper embossing folder
• copper metallic thread
• gold wink of stella

Emboss the card and cut circles.  I stamped the tree image and embossed in copper foil--the black with copper is so striking!  This card is all in the details!  I love the metallic touches to pull the copper embossing together--the wink of stella and metallic thread are subtle but great!

And you can't forget about the inside!!  I just stamped and embossed the tree and added an embossed greeting!  So fun!

Friday Quickies on a Sunday: a fun use for your DSP!

Happy Friday Quickie everyone!  Ok, it is a Sunday, but I was up to my elbows in Christmas Card Online classes on Friday and so I had to wait to post this!  First of all, I LOVE this card!  IT is really quite easy--the cutting is simple and the look is adorable!  It showcases some of our gorgeous Printed Papers (that are on sale for just one more full day!!) 

I saw an adorable card my friend, Kim P, a fellow demonstrator had posted on FB and used the same DSP (Presents & Pinecones from the Holiday Catalog) and layout.  She stamped a different set that I didn't have so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to put my spin on it!  I LOVE how it turned out!!

 

Gather Your supplies:

• DSP strips--6 cut to 3/4 x 3 3/4"
• 1/2 sheet of Emerald Envy cs plus scrap
• 4 x 5 1/4" Whisper White
• 2 5/8 x 4 1/8" Cherry Cobbler
• 2 1/2 x 4 Whisper White
• Wonderful Year and Berry Happiness Stamp sets
• Holly Berry Builder Punch
• Red GLimmer Paper

Once you've placed the printed paper strips, the card comes together quite quickly!  Stamp sentiment, add punched holly (don't forget to "bend" them so they are a bit more dimensional. Pop up sentiment on card, but first wrap some Emerald Metallic Thread around center.

 

I added a little stamping on the inside to tie it all together!

I just love how it turned out--and I knew I had to make more!

Here I used the Fruit Stand DSP with the Scenic Sayings Stamp set--super fun and happy spring colors--a nice break from my Holiday Stamping! :)

SIP 71: Color Challenge

Welcome to another week and another fantastic color challenge at SIP!  I have to admit, when I first saw this challenge, I kinda hated it! :)  But like all things, I am often more open to the possibilities once I get going! First of all, I looked at the colors and thought they reminded me of the colors from the paisley set.  And since like every third card on my blog lately has been done with Vintage Leaves, I figured I better branch out a bit!

 

 

Gather your supplies:

• 1/2 Sheet Mint Macaron Cardstock
• 3 3/4 x 5 Very Vanilla
• 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 Printed Paper (from Paisleys and Petals)
• 3 7/8 x 5 1/8" Copper Foil 
• Ribbon Trio
• Paisleys and Petals Bundle (set and Framelits)
• Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry ink
• Dimensionals....lots of dimensionals! :)
• Greeting for the inside (I used Cottage Greetings)

I love the look--I started doing a the full strength version of this, but decided I loved the softer look of the stamped off version. Once you get everything diecut, it goes super quickly!

Here is the full-strength version.  A little more intense, rich color so I put it on the Cajun Craze base with Razzleberry Ribbon and I like this one, too!

Creative Inking Blog Hop: Thankfulness

Welcome to The Creative Inking Blog Hop!  Whether you are joining in from the fabulous Lori's Blog or if this is your first stop,WELCOME!  I am so glad to have you stop by The Creativity Cave!  Our theme this month is Thankfulness and while I could have done a lovely Thanksgiving themed project, I felt it was time to break out some flowers and do a little THANKFULNESS Gift-Giving card making....Does that even make sense? :) LOL!

I think nothing screams true appreciation like a Hand-made gift!  There is just something wonderful about giving a gift that you've made--and its a true sign of your appreciation for the recipient to enjoy such a wonderful token of your gratitude!

Gather Your Supplies: 

• Thoughtful Banners and Crazy about you stamps
• Medallion and Banner Duet Punches
• 1/2 Sheet of Smoky Slate
• 3 7/8 x 5 1/8" Bermuda Bay (also used Pool Party, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron and Wisteria Wonder)
• 3 3/4 x 5 Whisper White plus scraps for punching banners
• Envelopes
• Cello Bag
• Ribbon
• Tag Topper Punch

So I started with this beautiful card--I used the Thankful Banners (see--THANKFUL is even in the name of that one!) and Crazy About You --for the flower and just created the background with Smoky Slate ink.  I then punched a stamped flower and a plain flower using the same ink and cardstock and embellished it with a little Silver Metallic Thread.  If you wanted to change things up a bit with a "warmer" color pallet, use Crumb Cake for your card base and some coordinating warm colors such as Peek A Boo Peach, Calypso Coral and Island Indigo among other colors!

These are super cute together!

Add a tag and put them in a cello bag and you are all set!

International Blog Highlights: October

Welcome to the International Blog Highlights--it is like a blog hop--but you can preview all the projects from my page!  I am so excited to be joining my friends from all across the globe for this fabulous event to inspire you and help get your creative juices flowing!

I love this beautiful fall card!! I was inspired by the leaves in the tree right outside my house in the back yard!  This is my favorite time of year--the seasons changing, beautiful fall colors, and cooler air after a hot summer!

Gather Your Supplies:

• 1/2 sheet of Cajun Craze
• 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 Watercolor Paper
• 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 Rose Red
• Rose Red, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Versamark pads
• GOld Embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, and Heat tool
• Gold embellishments
• Here for You and Vintage Leaves stamp sets
• Aqua Painters

After you stamp and emboss the leaf, I colored it in with each color, careful not to mix too much, so that each color could be seen on its own.  I then spritzed each color and then for a final touch, spritzed GOLD wink of stella!  SO beautiful up close!

The Thank You card is the same idea, just carried out a bit differently--I used the Faux Watercolor Technique and this card will be a video featured on my VIP Rewards Page tomorrow!

SIP 70: Tic Tac Toe

Welcome to The Creativity Cave and this week's SIP Challenge is a Tic Tac Toe challenge.  Just decide which way you want your Tic Tac Toe to go and get creatin'! 

 

I went straight down the left-hand side to do Leaves, Sparkle, Orange.  It looks fantastic and you guessed it--I had to watercolor it (faux, of course!)

Gather your supplies:

• 1/2 sheet Very Vanilla. 4 x 5 1/4" very vanilla
• 2 1/4 x 3 3/4" Watercolor paper
• 2 1/2 x 4" Early Espresso or Chocolate Chip
• Woodland Embossing Folder
• Copper Metallic Thread
• VIntage Leaves and Guy Gretings Stamp Sets
• Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Early Esperesso ink
• Gold Wink of stella

The card comes together quite nicely and I hope you love it--that Faux Watercolor Technique is just so awesome--I hope you are not sick of me doing it--I just lvoe it so much!  The Spritzing really adds to the card--have you noticed that leaves are kind of naturally "spritzed" this time of year?

OSAT Blog Hop: OH My Pumpkins and Pie

Welcome to The Creativity Cave!  I am so excited to have you join us for the OSAT Blog Hop! This month our theme is Oh My Pumpkins and Pie!  What a fun theme for fall!  Whether this is your first stop or you are coming from my good friend, Justin's Blog, I am so glad you are here!

 

I have two awesome projects to share with you today--first off is my Pumpkin Card for Thanksgiving!  I LOVE this card and it was so easy to create! 

Gather Your supplies:

• 1/2 Sheet of Crumb Cake
• Delicate Doilies
• Watercolor Paper
• Layering Circles Framelits
• Pool Party, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Smoky Slate ink pads
• Aquapainters
• Gorgeous Grunge
• Teeny Tiny Wishes
• Black and white baker's twine

The Card is reall easy to create--there are some great tips in the video for watercoloring, adding dimension to your work and building up color!

I think this card turned out just lovely--I am anxious to make some more for Thanks Giving!  I am hosting it this year with my sister (as in she cleans her house, I cook) I love our little arrangement! ;)

BUT, before Thanksgiving comes, there is HALLOWEEN!!!  I love halloween (have I mentioned that before??!)  I knew as soon as I was working on this post, eyeballs would be involved!! I've been looking at all the Halloween Candy displays for some chocolate eyeballs, but have not found them yet-so I am using eyeball gumballs instead, and they work just fine! I found them at both Target and Walmart.

I added them to a Cello Bag, tied it up with an adorable jar tag using the same set as the pumpkin, Jar of Haunts and I just love the look!  SOOOOOO darn fun!  Notice the eyeballs are kind of glossy--I used  the Fine Tip Glue to add the dimensional glaze--it is a lot like crystal effects if you've been around a while!  Takes forever to dry (hense the "drip" or as I like it call it the crying eye in the vat of eyeballs!) With the exception of the dry time (I'll be a bit less generous with the glue next time for a shorter wait), these were super quick and easy to make up!

SIP 69: Love

 

I LOVE (get it?!) this card!  I used the layering hearts framelits with the Sunshine Sayings framelits to create this layered pink heart with a touch of sparkle! 

Gather your supplies:

• 1/2 sheet crumb cake plus a 5 1/2 x 2" piece
• 1/4 sheet of Pink Pirouette, Flirty Flamingo, Watermelon Wonder, Melon Mambo
• Heart framelits
• Polka dot embossing folder
• Baker's Twine Trio (Holiday Catalog)
• gold glimmer paper
• Sunshine Sayings Framelits

To create the heart, I just cut 4 hearts (one in each color) and then trimed each heart to overlap the layers to create an ombre look--I purposefully created the crooked lines (seriously!)

I embossed the strip of crumb cake with the polka dot embossing folder and then added the heart on top with "love" die cut from gold glimmer.  I added some gold baker's twine to finish it off--so cute  and really easy!

Now, we are not in the season of love (Valentine's Day) but I think this would make a sweet note for someone you love, or a great anniversary card!

WWYS: Spooky Fun

Happy Monday to everyone! I hope you are excited to stamp with me today--I have the perfect design for you on a Monday--it is quick, easy and perfect for fall! ;)

We are stamping with Spooky Fun this week at WWYS Challenge and I love this set, but I wanted to showcase a card that is not necessairly Halloween--maybe just a nice fall card!

Gather your supplies:

• 1/2  sheet cut the long way (4 1/4 x 11) Crumb Cake, plus a 3 x 2" piece
• 2 x 1 1/4" Watercolor paper
• 2 1/8 x 1 3/8" Pumpkin Pie
• Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso Pads
• Aquapainters
• Spooky Fun and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamps
• Woodgrain Embossing Folder
• linen thread

This card is really simple to put together and of course it uses my FAVORITE technique: Faux Watercolor!!  So nice, and so simple!  The wonderful thing is how quickly this card comes together! I love how simple it is!  TIP: Make sure you "ground" your pumpkins--make sure they are sitting on something rather than just floating in the air. :)
